Wax can create 2D & 3D special effects and can work in two modes - as a standalone application which would appeal for home users/beginners, and as a "plug-in" to video editors/NLEs which would be more useful for professional editors. Initial data in this case is an SRT-file, and output data contains a list of subpictures in BMP format and SST-file for Sonic Scenarist. SST-file is a text file which sets up correspondence between an image file name and the time when it is shown on the screen. So, with this small tool you can create subtitles from "0" within seconds. Lately I have been asked where I someone could find some FREE Audio Recording Software to record songs of their own. Well I have come across these 3 software programs. The Free, Cross-Platform Sound Editor

GIMP 2.4

GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.

It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.

GIMP is expandable and extensible. It is designed to be augmented with plug-ins and extensions to do just about anything. The advanced scripting interface allows everything from the simplest task to the most complex image manipulation procedures to be easily scripted.

GIMP is written and developed under X11 on UNIX platforms. But basically the same code also runs on MS Windows and Mac OS X.
